After getting off the Canada Line SkyTrain at Vancouver City Centre Station, we walked the 0.6 miles to our hotel, the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre, following the instructions via my Google Maps App. While 0.6 miles is nothing for people of our fitness level, but the near freezing cold made the walk feel much much longer. If Vancouver had Uber or Lyft, I would have probably used one of them to drop us off at the hotel. Unlike other major cities in Canada, Vancouver still does not have Uber or Lyft.

We arrived at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre and entered the hotel via what we would later come to find out was the north tower. The front desk agent welcomed me to the hotel and after checking my ID, she pulled up my reservation and then thanked me for being a SPG Gold Member. The agent confirmed the type of room that I had chosen when I made the reservation and then finished checking us in. After wishing us a pleasant stay, the agent pointed out the fastest way for us to get to our room which was in the south tower. Since we would have to go back outside and walk in the cold, my parents and I decided to take the long way via the connector bridge up one floor from the lobby. While we did stay warm, using the connector was definitely a much much longer walk than if we had gone outside and walked across to the south tower.

The elevator, which seemed to take a long time to arrive, brought us to the 26th floor and we followed the directory of the floor to find our room, 2613. I used the contactless room key to let ourselves in. After turning on the master switch by the entrance, I turned on the lights and the first thing that hit me was the small size of the room. The room was definitely smaller than your typical North American hotel room sizes. My mom later confirmed that our room was the smallest on the floor when she saw the floor and room layout map near the elevator.

Our home for the next 4 nights had two beds, two chairs, desk and office chair, and a mini fridge. I didn’t get the size of the TV but it was much bigger than what is in most hotel rooms. The nightstand in-between the beds had outlets on the side facing each bed which made charging phones and accessing power really convenient. The room had more than enough power outlets for all of our needs and more. Above the drawers and mini fridge was the coffee maker and tea, free/paid bottled waters and the ice bucket. Since we had access to the Sheraton Club, we did not use the in room coffee maker nor pay for the bottled water.

The bathroom was decent sized and well stocked but one thing I noticed was that each morning, housekeeping wasn’t restocking the bath amenities or forgetting to restock some of the towels. I had to call down couple of times to request more of the bath amenities since the little bottles don’t last very long with three people in a room. On our last night, I noticed that none of the hand towels were stocked in the room. I wasn’t sure if this was some sort of “save the environment” thing or if the housekeeper just forgot.

After we dropped off our stuff in the room, we headed down one floor to the Sheraton Club to see what was available for snacks. There were assorted cookies including gingerbread man along with fruits, bars, chocolates, candies, chips, snack mix and assorted bottled beverages including bottled water in three refrigerators. Coffee, tea and espresso were also available but the espresso machine was broken the first day we visited. The Sheraton Club here has two levels. The second level which has sofas and designed for lounging can be accessed via the spiral staircase. The lower level is designed for dining. The Club also has a outdoor terrace which can be accessed from the lower level of the Club.

We had continental breakfast at the Sheraton Club each morning. The breakfast buffet was fresh fruit and assorted breads and pastries heavy. No scrambled eggs or bacon was provided. The only eggs available during breakfast was hardboiled eggs. A platter of assorted cheese and cold cut meat platter was available on the buffet and seemed to run out quickly. The breakfast was really good and with so much assorted fresh cut fruits available, we felt good about what we were eating.

In the evening, we had the appetizer and snack at the Sheraton Club which runs from 5-7PM each evening. Fresh veggies with dip, assorted fresh cut fruits, smoked salmon, and assorted cheese were available both evenings we attended the appetizer event. The first evening we attended, the hot dishes were mini pastrami sandwiches, chicken enchiladas, and nachos and a potato salad cup. For dessert, mini glasses of donuts with caramel was served on the first evening. On the second evening, the hot dishes were a creamy chicken pasta, riblets, and a hotdog bar. The dessert was a berry mousse cake the second evening. The smoked salmon was changed up a bit with shaved fennel and the mini salad cups were served the second evening. Since we were out and about the third evening, we missed the evening appetizer event. We, especially my mom, were really impressed with both the breakfast and evening appetizer food, both in taste and variety.

Sheraton Wall Centre View From Room

The first morning, we were able to get a good look out the window of our room. We had a good view of the city but not as nice as the view from the Sheraton Club’s open air terrace. To the right, we had a view of water but we never figured out if it was English Bay or Vancouver Harbour that we were looking at. Since it was just a sliver that we could see, none of us really bothered to figure out what we were looking at. The beds in our room were VERY VERY comfortable. While not quite as nice as Westin’s Heavenly Beds, the beds here at Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre came REALLY close in comfort. Everything including the common areas were clean and everything looked well maintained. After staying at couple of lousy hotels the last couple of stays, it was really refreshing to end 2017 with a stay at such an awesome hotel.
